It's not the same anymore. No more "hey, mom can you drop me to the movies" dates. No more "hey, dad can I borrow money to buy her dinner" dates. Instead, the dates are more real. He holds her hand. She rests her head on his chest. They gaze out at the night sky, sometimes planning out their entrance to the prom (girl: what dress should I wear? boy: you look beautiful in anything) or talking in a more serious, more erudite note - money, divorce, depression. There are curfews, but does it matter anymore? They fall in love and it's one of the most genuine feelings in the world. Now, it's a "mom, i'm taking the car & dad, i'll pay you back with my next pay check" kind of date. Let's face it. We're growing up...and it's kinda sorta scary.

I totally agree with you on this one. It's surprising how you physically grow up yet subconsciously, you're still the child who clings on to mommy and daddy. Young souls, you know?

Mark Twain is amazing, by the way. Thanks for taking the time to drop by my page. ;)
